You know it’s time to put up those infant safety gates once your little one starts crawling. It’s amazing how mobile (and how fast) your little one becomes, once they start crawling. One minute your baby is sitting in the middle of the floor and within seconds they are teetering at the top of the stairs. Infant safety gates prevent countless injuries to infants; from falls to burns (babies crawling into a room that is not baby safe can grab hot items in a flash.)
It is worth the investment to install infant safety gates so that you can section off baby safe spaces in your home that will allow your baby to explore safely. Once your baby is in a safe area they will have the opportunity to develop their gross motor skills as they will be allowed to crawl freely.
Infant safety gates either come in a pressure gate or a hardware mounted gate. Infant safety gates that are hardware mounted are more expensive and require some installation but they are much sturdier than pressure infant safety gates.
These pressure infant safety gates are not as convenient as the hardware mounted infant safety gates because you have to remove the gate (or hurdle over it) instead of swinging the gate open.
Pressure infant safety gates can be removed and used in different areas of your home, which can save you some money. But constantly attaching and removing the pressure infant safety gates is inconvenient, and you run the risk of forgetting to change the gate and leave your baby exposed to an area of your home that isn’t baby safe.
